Have you analyzed the specifics of the Gelatin (aka Gelitin) show at Leo Keonig's Gallery in Sept. 2001, the B-Thing, and Gel's more recent show at O'Flaherty's in 2023?
On quasicrystals - my dad, himself a materials scientist, was a big supporter of Schectman during early research and kicking around ideas at Wright-Patterson's Aerospace Research Lab in the 1970s, essentially mentoring Schectman there. Then he made sure Schectman's work was funded when he was at DARPA in the 1980s. Proud as could be when Schectman won the Nobel. Schectman cetainly wasn't dismissed by 'everyone' early on, that's a lie.
The biggest voluntary demolition of a skyscraper was the old Union Carbide building at 270 Park Avenue New York - where the new 1388 foot supertall JP Morgan building now stands. The UC building was a 52 storey steel and concrete job. It took about one year to take it down. Covered in scaffolding, excavators breaking the concrete floors one by one, and the steel beams cut into smaller pieces by oxy torches.
Indeed. Lucky Larry got a free demolition and a huge insurance payout for a very low initial investment to build his new WTC complex that he had plans for a year or so prior.

Imagine what it would have cost and required to demolish the WTC buildings legally.
But David Rockefeller had a better idea:).

911 was not a very eco-friendly demolition:).
